She Belongs to the Water

_____

When the rain comes,
the land sings to the sky
Throws open her arms
to embrace her beloved
Becomes sensual
Undulating under the pulse
of the sky drummer
Hums and rolls over for a stretch
As languid rivulets
trace the crevices
between earth and stone
Her body breathes,
yields, surrenders
It was never only hers anyway
She belongs to the water
As the water belongs to her
Two lovers dancing
The fertile dance
of life … death … life
