Poetry
These poems are often featured on my Rewilding Wonder Substack, including in spoken word form
I started writing more poetry in the in-between spaces of the pandemic. I found the silence and solitude in those times strangely nourishing, as my nervous system unwound and I could listen to and observe the small but meaningful beauties all around me… Along the way I also started recording some of them as spoken word videos. I hope you enjoy some of the vignettes I paint… ~ย Ariana
Early Spring
As the sun sets
Soft blue fades
to gold dust
The horizon aches
for the crescent moon
The dark one
to trickle like water
into the low places
forgotten crevices
softens bone
smoothes stone
Let’s Get Real
Technology is crack
Let me be more enchanted
by the robin in the
mustard flowers
who scurries by
Mother (an ode to spring)
farther, higher, wider, wilder
Sinew spirals dancing open
in ecstatic abandon
drinking sunlight
and dawn’s dew
Closer
One day I will be swallowed
back into you
Dust by dust
Water flows down
Bones will crumble
Planting Seeds
Soil yields
Bends, sways
under the weight
of exploding seeds
pressing limbs
Ravenous for the Real
May we be
unafraid
of the cackle of our own laugh
the sway of our weird limbs
the shake of our own flesh
Twists of Tongue
Black as the soul of
Night sky
Shivering dark
Quivering pen
Hungry heart
Tiny Things
We’re all just holding firm
To a prayer
To a held breath
This pause
This reset
