Mother (an ode to spring)
_____
Devoted to the womb
from which creation springs
Flowering forth
bountiful blessings
O beauty!
Shiva’s seed
in your moist, warm soil
quickens
cracks open
shatters wide
releasing
radiant, effulgent LIFE
which spreads its wild arms
out and out and out
farther, higher, wider
wilder
Sinew spirals dancing open
in ecstatic abandon
drinking sunlight
and dawn’s dew
Greedy, thirsty, wild-eyed
Yet giving everything
to be born
anew
