LAND LISTENING CIRCLES

Reconnection. Relationship. Renewal.

WITH ARIANA

Boulder / Oregon / Beyond

❖

In a heartbroken world, sometimes the most difficult and yet important thing we can do is slow down… sit still… stay open

Monthly, we gather on the land to reorient towards right relationship with all beings, take time to sit with the earth, and simply listen

Beginning and ending in circle, we may also weave songs, stories, prayers… But we’ll take plenty of time to simply listen, and drop deeper into the pace of nature. (For are we not nature too?)

I offer these circles for respite and renewal, but also to help us ground and strengthen in what is real and sustaining. They are not an escape, but a return – to center, to earth, to each other

May they be a homecoming

❖

These circles are by donation – I offer them as a gift for the community, that we might deepen our relationship with the land and each other. (You can contribute here)

Our time together may include:

  • A connecting and contemplative walk from our meeting place to our circling spot. Shedding the layers of life’s clutter and noise to greet and be welcomed by this place
  • An opening circle that may include an invocation, land offerings / gratitude altar, intention settings, and threshold crossing
  • Dispersed solo listening on the land
  • Council circle for sharing any emergent wisdom or potent experiences (including poetry…tears…song) that arose from the land

Along the way, you will likely learn something about these lands we walk – wild edible & medicinal plants, hidden habitat trails, the creatures we share these lands with…

This is an emergent practice, so the above may shift and adapt with each gathering and season. That said, please plan to stay for the full experience to honor the shared ritual container. If you’re unable to, please come for the next one.

May we co-create a nourishing and uplifting ritual space that brings us closer to the place we call home.

Upcoming

_____

1-year anniversary Land Listening!

Hybrid Medicine Makers wildcrafting excursion + Land Listening Circle:

Monday, June 29th, 6:30-8:30pm

(+ walk back down)

Our time will start in the foothill meadows of South Boulder, where we’ll then make our way up the mesa, harvesting and learning about grindelia (and likely other herbs) as we go. Once atop the mesa, we’ll have a sweet little listening circle amidst the pines.

This gathering is also a fundraiser for Ariana’s trip to Oregon (she leaves the next day) to go help care for her mama with dementia. Suggested donation: $35+

Directions and what to bring will be sent after you register.

Details

________

We meet once a month, whenever possible, but sometimes (especially in Colorado’s wildly changeable weather), circles are announced spontaneously. → Be sure to join the email list so you don’t miss any invitations.

Returning participant?
Please register anew for each circle date, as locations and orientation details may change.

A note on location:
Our circles are held in or close to town. This practice is not to get “away” to some pristine place, but to befriend the places right around us where wildness still thrives. As Julia Butterfly Hill said, “There is no such place as away.” This is our home, and the home of many more-than-human others we share it with. May we find the magic right here, close to home, and begin to develop relationship with it.

A note on weather:
I love inclement weather, and won’t necessarily cancel for a little bit of drizzle or flurries. However, in the interest of safety, we won’t meet during thunder/lightning spells, deluges, or extreme heat or freeze.

“In an age of acceleration, nothing can be more exhilarating than going slow. And in an age of distraction, nothing is so luxurious as paying attention. And in an age of constant movement, nothing is so urgent as sitting still.”
